Herb Betham
Herb is a skilled carver whose roots run deep, his uncles , Micheal Tavioni, Henry Tavioni and Tapatu Tavioni (deceased) are master carvers in the Cook Islands, passing down traditions that continue to shape his artistry. He works in native wood, stone and tree fern wood (ponga) creating pieces that carry the rhythm and stories of the islands of the Pacific Ocean.
For the Ngahere Exhibition, Herb joins forces with Dylan McKay on the PONGA Collection — blending carving and fine woodworking in a celebration of form, texture, and New Zealand’s native beauty.
Come and see Herb’s work, including his collaboration with LyZadie Design Studio, at the Ngahere Exhibition @thegreyplace this September — a celebration of craftsmanship and the natural world.
