Henk Tomkins

Henk Tomkins (b. 2001) is a painter from Auckland, New Zealand, whose work fuses gestural painting and screen printing. Drawing on his training in dance and choreography, Tomkins imbues his practice with a physical methodology to visualise emergent emotional states. His work documents ephemeral human experiences through immediate, unmediated responses to affect, engaging with the emotional weight of being and feeling in a temporally lagging sociocultural context marked by dissonance and imperfection.
